They used an array of general household items and miscellaneous vehicle parts which they bolted to the stripped down frames, removing paint in favour of raw steel and adding plenty of desert patina for added realism. Production designer Colin Gibson worked with his team to convert the bikes into their Fury Road form. Half way through the film they come across the Rock Rider gang in some narrow, rocky canyons and they all ride bikes based on MX and trials motorcycles like the ones pictured. Gas-Gas TXT250s and Yamaha YZ250Fs were used by the bad guys pursuing Max and Furiosa in their war rig drive. In the film, Max is given his motorcycle by the Vuvalini women, fully loaded with supplies as thanks for helping Furiousa (Charlize Theron) and the 5 wives during their attempted escape from the War Boys and Immortan Joe. Main man Max Rockatansky’s bike looks to be a Yamaha R1 covered in gaudy tapestry and upholstery. Return of the Cafe Racer main man Geoff takes a look at some of the post-apocalyptic bikes starring in the new film. In the latest film Mad Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) himself even jumps on board what appears to be a Yamaha R1 covered in carpet!
MAD MAX FURY ROAD MOVIE MOVIE
The film's release date was recently pushed back to 2024 instead of summer 2023.Author: Geoff at Return of the Cafe Racers Posted: īikes have always played a major part in Mad Max films, and the Mad Max Fury Road movie is no different. The new film will focus on the back story for Imperator Furiosa, the role played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road. It's a good time to be auctioning off these vehicles, too, since there's news buzzing around about the prequel that director George Miller is working on. The more we think about it, this kind of fierce bidding is full-on appropriate to buy one of the cars from Mad Max: Fury Road. Bidders will also only have two days to submit their bids-September 25 and 26-and they will never see what other people offer. Instead, the vehicles are being sold as a tender, which means prospective buyers submit sealed bids and the seller will simply choose the winning amount from among the submissions. This isn't your typical auction where people bid one another up. For example, in explaining what the War Rig tanker is all about, the auction house writes: "Mutant lovechild of semi-trailer and hot rod, twin V8s end to end, six-wheel-drive, eighteen-wheeled leviathan charged with the barter of fluids and firearms that binds the three city-states of the Wasteland in tenuous alliance." For the Jag Flamer convoy car, the auction listing description reads: "The sandblasted and shiny chassis speaks of construction once upon a time in GasTown, but it has now found fame as part of Furiosa's convoy: such is recycling in the shifting sands of the Wasteland."Īt this point, none of the actions have a minimum bid listed, and we may never know what they end up selling for, either. The company running the auction, Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers, fully understands what it's selling here, getting into character for the item descriptions. There's also a hot-rodded version of a 1932 Chevrolet coupe and a Ford F-250 outfitted with a huge claw on the back that was called the Sabre Tooth, and more, including the Doof Wagon (top), perhaps the most iconic of all the vehicles thanks to countless speakers and the Doof himself.
The vehicles run the gamut from the massive War Rig tanker truck to the modified 1973 XB Ford Falcon coupe called the Razor Cola.
